As we stepped off the tube at the Crystal Palace station, we had no idea we were headed to Penge. As we walked to our final destination, our excitement slowly ramped up as we noticed all the artwork in every direction. Yes, I know, technically, the first murals we saw were in Crystal Palace, but walking into Penge was when our eyes went full tilt.
Street Art in Penge England
Start your journey early. You don’t want to miss the murals on some of the business rollers. We recommend starting at one of the stations or on Penge High Street. Maple Road, Penge High Street, and St. John’s Road should not be missed. As you wander the streets look forward, up, and behind you. The art is everywhere.
We found the artwork in Penge to be quite exceptional. We look forward to returning to see how it’s changed and grown.
How to Get To and Around Penge
There are two London Overground stations – Penge East and Penge West. From Victoria Station in London, the train ride runs about 20 or so minutes.
Buses are another way to reach Penge. Use Google Maps or the official Transport for London app for the best route.
Once in town, it’s pretty simple to get around. We recommend walking, driving, or biking around Penge.
Penge Street Art Resources
Be sure to keep tabs on how to visit Penge Rooftop Gallery. This open-air, top-floor parking garage gallery is only available to viewers at special times. We weren’t fortunate enough to take the tour, but we did peek through a door, and what we saw was amazing. The London Calling Blog manages the tours.
London x London posted a terrific map of where to find murals around Penge. We found their post very helpful, but do remember street art changes regularly.
