Catching the world as it is, not in some studio or with posed actors, is why street photography is one of my favorite types. Life is vivid, engaging, all around us, and most of the time unnoticed by its residents. This is where street photography takes in and delivers a raw feed of the world we live in. I couldn’t have been more excited when Heather discovered Vayando and Jacques Nkinzingabo.
Kigali Photo Walk with Jacques Nkinzingabo
Jack (Jacques) leads a photography street walk through Kigali. His walk is unique because Rwandans are on uncertain terms with the camera. A person, including a local, will most likely receive some apprehension or outright refusal when trying to take photos of people or property in Rwanda. Jack is on a mission to change that attitude, and you can help him. Join him on his tour and be an ambassador of goodwill. Be polite and interact with the fantastic Rwandan people, and you, too, can get a glimpse of what I saw. For more info on our experience with Jack, click here.

It looks like a completely different world! Loved the photo of the guy taking a picture of you guys – looks like they are friendly people! Did you guys do it alone or did a local take you around?
I love these pictures. I think they have captured the essence of the place beautifully. The casual yet busy lives of the residents.
Thank you Ami! I am glad you liked them, we tried really hard to do just that.
